Insects to Eat: Namtok Crickets
To the delight of fans of entomophagy and to invite those who have never tasted edible insects, our chef has concocted namtok crickets, a recipe inspired by a typical Thai dish.
Food insects in sweet and sour with mint
The cricket namtok is distinguished by its sweet and sour taste, by the subtle hints of nuts that find their sources in the toasted rice that makes up the recipe. In addition, the freshness of mint brings a touch of lightness to edible insects.
They are perfect as an insect aperitif and taste like peanuts. Regulars of edible crickets will have no trouble adopting them. They are even an opportunity to discover the new flavors of namtok sauce.
For those who are trying edible insects for the first time, this product is an excellent choice. Light and tasty, namtok crickets allow you to discover edible insects in sweetness. So, do not hesitate to order them on next-food.net.
Entomophagy: a trend?
Eating insects is more than a culinary habit in Southeast Asian countries. Indeed, food insects represent a very important source of protein for these populations. This is not the case in Western countries where grilled crickets or chocolate with insects are not yet appreciated for their true taste and nutritional value.
However, the mayonnaise is starting to set and we can see that the entomophagous trend is progressing. Indeed, presenting edible insects as sources of high quality protein has encouraged European companies to invest in the sector.
Where to buy edible insects
This is how we find edible insect departments in supermarkets in some European countries or an online sale of edible insects. At the same time, some restaurants offer an insect tasting, which increases the number of entomophages, especially in France.
At first, most of them tasted the delight of the insect during a trip to Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam… Later, new entomovores convinced by this high-protein and very low in fat swell the ranks of regulars. You too, go to next-food.net to order apero insects!

I bought this along with Teriyaki & unflavored crickets. The namtok was my favorite among the two flavored ones (I have yet to taste the unflavored ones). A slight heat combined with a flavor of lime and some salt, I will definitely order this again!
