Falafel Stuffed with Edible Mealworms an Edible Insect Recipe

You want to eat edible mealworms and looking for a edible insects recipe here is a great one.

INGREDIENTS

250g of dry chickpeas/garbanzo beans – It must be dried not canned!

3 cloves garlic
1 1/2 tbsp flour
4 tbsp of sesame seeds
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 tsp salt
2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp black pepper
Vegetable oil for frying (grape seed, canola, and peanut oil work well)

DIRECTIONS

Re-hydrate the chickpeas by placing theme in a bowl full of water. Let is soak overnight in your fridge.

The next day. Drain the chickpeas, place them in your blender with the garlic, flour, salt, cumin, parsley and black pepper.

Pulse the blender and push back the mixture on the side to the center and pulse again until you get a fine cut of the ingredients. Don’t over do it, we don’t want hummus this time.

Take the mixture into a bowl. Add the sesame seeds and mix.

Take a table spoon of the falafel mixture and place the mixture flat it in your wet hands. Take the edible mealworm and cover the mixture in your and with it, add one more spoon on top and combine the ingredients in your hand until you made a ball or the shape you like. Mix well until it stays together. Keep your edible mealworms falafels on the side in a plate.

Heat up your pan with the vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot place your edible insects falafels and fry for 3 min until golden brown turn the falafels and fry for 3 min until golden brown. Take them out a place them on paper towels to drain from oil.

Serve you edible mealworms falafel hot with a dip or in a sandwich. You can use Hummus, tahini. We used a nice Mexican salsa a bit spicy, it did wonders.
